Kayla and Lee's engagement session with Kelsey Michelle Photography took them right back to where they began. Take a look!
The icy air filled their lungs and the smell of rubber mats brought back memories of the past. With sharpened blades and a rush of excitement, Kayla and Lee’s engagement session started where their relationship began 12 years ago…at the ice rink. It might seem cliché for a figure skater and a hockey player to fall for each other, but that’s just what happened for Kayla Solari and Lee Walbeck. They met in middle school at Bellingham’s Sportsplex Ice Arena, and whether they were together as a couple or “just friends,” throughout the years, they followed each other through life’s highs and lows.
This engagement photoshoot was about nostalgia and revisiting important places of the past. However, it also marked a new beginning and a launching pad for Kayla and Lee’s future marriage together. Not only were they able to take a trip down memory lane at the ice rink, they visited Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands. Lopez Island holds a special place in Kayla’s heart, since she spent summers there at her grandparent’s cabin. We were able to visit her and Lee’s favorite spot on the island: Shark Reef Sanctuary. Let’s just say that the combination of Kayla and Lee’s love and the breathtaking beauty of Shark Reef is what dreams are made of!
