Maria and Jake's August wedding at the Nantucket Inn in Anacortes, photographed by Lisa Marie Photography, was timeless and personal.
This sweet couple is bound to bring a little extra happiness to your day.
"My husband grew up in Pennsylvania and I grew up in Michigan, so the majority of our guests flew in from out of state. We knew a lot of people we loved wouldn't be able to make the trip but it just made sense for us to get married in Washington. Our families flew in the week before and we spent time doing all of the last minute details. We rented the entire inn so both of our families and the wedding party could spend time together before the big day.
My sister and I hand-picked the dahlias from a friend's garden the day before my wedding! It was fun and a little nerve wracking not knowing what color and variety would be bloomed. My sister and my bridesmaids put together my bouquets and all of my centerpieces. They did an amazing job and the flowers looked beautiful.
My bridesmaids and I spent the morning getting ready, hanging out on the balcony of our suite, and sipping mimosas. Once the photographer showed up, the day flew by! My husband and I decided to do a first look so we could take pictures before the wedding. Lisa got so many amazing shots!
My dad walked me down the aisle and our pastor performed a beautiful ceremony, including some dialogue from the Princess Bride! After the ceremony, we took family photos, then it was time to party. My brother designed a signature cocktail for us and everyone loved it. After a phenomenal dinner, we played the shoe game. I was surprised at how many people had never heard of it! If you're one of them, look it up. So fun!
Our incredible neighbor made our cake for us and it turned out beautiful. We didn't know if we'd have enough for everyone so we also had a donut table, which was a big hit. We visited with our guests, played corn hole (made by my awesome hubby), and danced the night away. At the end of the night, my brother surprised everyone by singing "Jump in the Line" by Harry Belafonte, conga line included.
We had so much help from friends and family. We couldn't have pulled it off without them. The day really does go by in a blur. I'm thankful we have such amazing wedding photos to look back at and smile."
