The photographer says:
Spring in the Pacific Northwest was running a little late this year and it gave me some time to scout our little corner of the world for a unique location that could really show off the beauty of spring blossoms in our area. When I came across Cloud Mountain Farm Center and toured their peach trees I knew these would be the perfect setting. I had no idea peaches even grew in Washington and that their blossoms were such a lovely shade of dark pink! I loved that this pink is so different from the light pink cherry and plum blossoms we see so often.
We only had a few short weeks to get this shoot pulled together as the rain moved in and the sun started peeking out. The blossoms were well on their way to full bloom and I did NOT want to miss it! I wanted to keep this shoot simple and fun. The marble accents in the homemade meringues, balloons and plates were a key feature for me. Marble is a popular texture right now and something that I really think draws the eye in on the details for this session. I also wanted to play with the various pinks that were such a big and natural piece of this session and bring in other pinks of our own! The cotton candy is actually spray painted pillow stuffing, the grapefruit and Bellini, the pink blossom flowers and the pink chair all tied in a larger pink color scheme to the pink peach blossoms.
We ended the session in the cherry tree greenhouse that is full of rows of gorgeous blooming cherry trees that produce thousands of pounds of cherries on this farm each year. We had to dodge and avoid the bees they had recently set lose in the greenhouse, but it was absolutely worth it to utilize that fantastic space and light. The florist, Pozie by Natalie, stayed on-site with me the day of the shoot.
Ultimately this inspiration session was meant to show off the beauty of spring and to play with those colors and textures in a way that others could easily duplicate and love!
