Five Minutes with Best Made Videos®

Who is the person behind Best Made Videos®?

My name is Reid and I’m the owner and operator of Best Made Videos®, a recent (I’m very proud to say) award-winning wedding videography and video production company based in West Seattle, WA.

I graduated from Gonzaga University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2008 and after working in local TV news for 6 years both here in Seattle and down in Bakersfield, CA I decided to step away from news and start my own video production company in 2014.

Never originally envisioning myself as a “wedding videographer”, I’ve now completed over 400 weddings for happy couples throughout the area and I still get choked up editing wedding highlight videos to this day!

When I’m not filming weddings (our “prime” wedding season here in Seattle is VERY short), I also help film and produce corporate videos for a variety of small to medium-sized companies throughout the area.

My wife Dorothy is a teacher at Alki Elementary here in West Seattle (see our wedding video here) and we have a 10-year-old Dachshund named Rosie.

When I’m not filming videos you can usually find us rooting on the Kraken (section 19) or recording my alt-football podcast called The Markcast® where we chat about all things non-NFL including the XFL, CFL, and USFL.

How did you start filming weddings?

I talk about my transition in this podcast episode of my wedding vendor focused podcast "Get to Know Your Wedding Pro."  My wife and I were out to dinner for Valentine's Day and I was talking to a self employed winery owner.  I remember thinking how awesome it would be to own your own business and to be able to work for yourself. I wasn't originally planning on doing weddings, but I booked a last minute wedding off of Craigslist and it was so much fun I decided to go all in.  In TV news most of the time people don't want news cameras around, so being welcomed and joyed at a wedding was a unique and fun experience!

What’s the best part of filming weddings?

I enjoy the detail shots of the wedding day, the dress especially, shoes, etc.  I did a compilation video a few years ago showing all of our dress shots from that year.

What’s your favorite wedding moment you’ve ever caught on film?

Best moment hands down was Cory’s first look when he saw Kristi coming down the aisle.

It’s about 1/2 way through this video, and I think it speaks for itself but needless to say it was one of the most emotional first looks I have ever seen in 400+ weddings.

What’s your favorite wedding song?

I’m a big fan of “Stop Time” by Landon Austin.

Seen in this video.  It’s not your typical wedding song, it’s more of a pop variety.  It just showcase the fun and joy I try to capture in our wedding videos.
