Q & A with Alder and Pine Photography
What made you get into photography?
I'm the biggest romantic out there. I have always treasured pictures and the memories we get to relive because of them. After encouragement from my husband, I started my education! I watched every online class, reading every book I could find on photography and practicing on my own friends and family. I found some amazing mentors and a few years later began my own business. I have cherished every minute since then.
How did you get into wedding photography?
As previously mentioned, I am a sucker for a good love story. Romance is alive and well; weddings are the epitome of all great love stories. After honing my craft and learning from my mentors I was honored when I was asked to document my first few weddings. Its been a love affair ever since. Meeting amazing couples, hearing their stories and being able to walk alongside them on the biggest days of their lives brings me so much joy.
What do you love about photographing weddings?
Meeting my couples, curating those relationships from the first email to the final delivery of their wedding galleries. Every wedding is a unique reflection of the each couple; wedding photography is one of the most rewarding genres out there for photographers.
What is unique about your wedding photography?
The experience my couples have with me and my team. Weddings are joyful days and every couple should connect with their photographer. Aside from each other, the person couples spend the most time with is usually their coordinator or photographer. When our couples say how much fun their entire day was – that is the highest compliment and it shows in the final pictures as well.
What is your favorite wedding moment you have captured?
We have had some amazingly moving moments in the last several years, but 3 of my favorite moments would have to be when one of my couples included their grandmas in their ceremony as flower-grands! Those ladies radiated pride and joy and it truly set the stage for entire day. Second would be when one of my brides came out at the end of the night in her mom's wedding dress- completely surprising her mom with such a sweet moment. The third was hands down the most emotional, My bride had lost her father when she was young – her brothers surprised her with a brother-sister dance in place of the traditional father-daughter dance. There was not a dry eye in the entire room – mine included!
