Q & A with Alder & Blossom
Tell us a little bit about Alder and Blossom.
I chose the name Alder and Blossom because every event, large or small, needs strength in structure and attention to details that make it pop, excite, engage, and draw guests in. From beautiful weddings with elaborate backdrops, centerpieces, and time frames to celebrations of life with subtle textures and details meant to memorialize and frame a loved one.
As an event planner and coordinator, I bring a 17+ year professional background in business management and human resources, with my last three years focused on event planning and management, and full service catering. Each event I am part of is managed as an important project with clear and compassionate communication, adherence to budgets, timelines followed, and focus given to the special needs and details of each client.
I want your employee or client appreciation event to grow your relationships, your wedding to feel beautifully seamless and your memorial to be as stress-free as possible during an already trying time.
When I am not event and party planning, you can find me puttering around my garden or kitchen. I love nurturing my plants to fruition, creating beautiful meals with thoughtful ingredients, throwing an impromptu patio party and feeding my family and friends. There really is nothing I love more than sharing time with my loving partner, wonderful kids (who are now adults, so I really cherish every moment), and my close group of neighbors and friends.
I look forward to connecting with you,
Kimberly

What is your favorite part about event planning?
I take on a limited number of clients because I want to give my couples the individual focus each of them deserves. I love the initial meetings that I have with my clients where I get to hear about you and your unique love story in all its wonderful and sometimes quirky details. I enjoy hearing about how you met, where you were, fun vacations, individual and blended families, your traditions, and how you fell in love and decided to make a commitment together. I care about the wedding palette, style you might have in mind, and traditions you wish to incorporate, but I definitely like to step back with you and think about your essence as a couple, the experience you are trying to create, and memories you want to achieve. I want to help you plan, consult on, and coordinate an unforgettable party with your loved ones.
What is something special that Alder and Blossom offers?
Alder and Blossom truly has the ability to be a one-stop-shop for clients. We have many unique modern, country chic, and vintage rentals, tables, service ware, backdrops, and portable bars in house that are available only to our clients. I also have an amazing list vendors that I work with, caterers, gardeners, florists, and more to help create a really lovely experience for you and your guests.
What is one piece of advice you would offer when planning a wedding?
Shut out the noise and go with your gut. Pinterest, Instagram and other social media platforms are great because they can help you develop ideas, but they can also offer and overwhelming amount of information and pressure for brides. When I work with clients, they often come to me saying, “ I saw this, or my family says I should do that …”, I listen to everything my clients have to offer and then I ask, “what is it that you really want; what type of experience do you want as a couple and for your guests?” It is your wedding and I want it to be an event that is a true reflection of my clients vision.
