What’s the story behind the name, the Chrysalis?
The word “chrysalis” refers to the pupa stage of a butterfly. We want all guests to have a transformative experience when they are here. Our tagline, “A respite for the body, mind, and soul.” also conveys that.
Tell us about that spectacular Chrysalis view.
One of only 3 hotels in Bellingham with a view of Bellingham Bay, ours is unique in that it is both of the working Fairhaven waterfront and of the beautiful San Juan islands. The restaurant, living room, terrace and all guest rooms have a view of the water. Taylor Boardwalk is an additional viewpoint and the sunsets are gorgeous!
What sets apart a wedding at the Chrysalis?
That spectacular view, for one thing! Another is that we are small which gives the couple, their family and guests a very warm, intimate experience. Our team is exceptionally friendly and skilled at creating an unforgettable wedding event.

Again, the view! Our wedding space is beautifully decorated like a well-appointed Pacific Northwest living room so couples can just bring centerpieces to personalize the space and they are set! We provide all set up, tables, chairs, linens, tableware, servers, clean up and catering by Keenan’s at the Pier, one of the best restaurants in Bellingham.

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Know that you’ve done all the planning ahead of time and relax so that you can thoroughly be in the moment on your big day.
